What is maltodextrin?

MultyDex® maltodextrin, a dietary carbohydrate product obtained by controlled enzymatic hydrolysis of highly purified starch. It is a white scent-free, very soluble in water powder having neutral taste.

What is the composition of MultyDex® maltodextrin?

MultyDex® maltodextrin consists of a mixture of simple and complex carbohydrates. The main ones are oligosaccharides, trisaccharides (maltotriose), maltose and glucose. The ratio of carbohydrate components depends on the degree of processing and highly efficient cleaning and filtration. Proteins and fats in the product are almost absent.

Being a natural carbohydrate, maltodextrin, like starch, is completely digested in the human body. The final product is glucose. This process takes longer comparing to simple sugars digestion, which ensures a slow flow of glucose into the blood and the absence of a glucose peak in blood.

In baby foods, maltodextrin helps the mixture components to digest easier in kids' digestive systems, which are far from perfect, and increases the amount of energy produced.
